Forest

Purposeful, functional designs to elevate the habitual experience

Forest is a Melbourne-based Interior design firm, kept intentionally small by Founder Jess. We repositioned the business towards a more premium market as they grew into new territory. Delving into their design style, their namesake and purpose, we drew on both literal forest elements as well as elements a forest represents, such as clarity and calm, both traits that feature heavily in their design philosophy. Our stationery work involved tactility at large, with use of seaweed papers, embossing, fluted acrylic and a new tonal palette. Our typographic system is led by a more powerful wordmark, maturing the brand with customised lettering and just the right amount of personality. To accompany its strength, a classic serif was employed to create balance and reflect the refinement of each project they undertake. The digital elements explore animated word play to emphasize their ethos and process whilst a fluted texture to reveal new projects relates back to materiality and purpose, almost drawing the physical into a digital space.

“Since embarking on our project with Studio Sly, we have clarity and confidence in our studio’s identity and purpose. From our initial briefing, Lauren immediately provided raw & genuine insight, with a deeper understanding and appreciation of what was needed, wanted, and what our brand deserved. She nailed it! We were ready to sign up and invest on the spot and are immensely grateful that we did! As fellow creatives, we thoroughly enjoyed and felt inspired by our client journey with Studio Sly. From hand-made custom prototypes to innovative finish exploration, we trusted and respected Lauren’s enthusiasm and dedication to our brand. Lauren has been dynamic, supportive and held space for us as we built upon and refined our scope, whilst continuously managing our program, budget, and material production. Together with Studio Sly, we are excited to continue expanding on the foundations we have created as our studio grows into the future.”
